History of the Faculty

The Military Academy of Malaysia (MAM-ATMA), through UTM-KEMENTAH's Memorandum of Agreement, was formed on July 1995. All academic programmes offered by the MAM were conducted by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and this was when the Department of Engineering was established to coordinate all Engineering Programmes. 6 engineering programmes were offered:

  1. Bachelor of Civil Engineering
  2. Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
  3. Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering - Marine
  4. Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering - Automotive
  5. Bachelor of Electrical Electronics Engineering

In 2003, Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering - Aeronautics was offered and this made the 7th programme for the MAM/UTM. After the MAM was upgraded to become the National Defence University of Malaysia (Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia, UPNM) on December 2006, the Department of Engineering was renamed the Faculty of Engineering in line with the approval by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. Four academic programmes were developed and they are now fully operated by the NDUM. These new programmes are offered to new intakes of Engineering students starting from the academic session of 2007/2008,

  1. Bachelor of Civil Engineering
  2. Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
  3. Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Communication)
  4. Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Power)

The total number of the first intake for the Engineering Academic Programmes in UPNM was 164.
